[Bug 410367] New: Timeout waiting for eth0 to appear.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=410367 Summary: Timeout waiting for eth0 to appear. Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: fnm@osier-farm.org.uk QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer During boot the rcnetwork script times out waiting for eth0 to appear. Running "rcnetwork restart" immediately after boot correctly detects and configures the ethernet device. Initially my OpenSuSE 11.0 installation didn't exhibit this problem. Now it does every boot. OpenSuSE 10.3 exhibited the problem on the majority of boots. Inserting "udevtrigger --subsystem-match="*net*" --verbose" into the rcnetwork script before the wait for interfaces loop fixes the problem. The network device in question: 04:00.0 Ethernet controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 22) It uses the sky2 driver. Building the sky2 driver into the kernel rather than as a module does not help. CPU is a Core2 6600 @ 2.4GHz. I'm not using NetworkManager. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
