[Bug 503444] New: KDE4: Inactive window flashes before closing with fade-in effect (compositing) on
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=503444 Summary: KDE4: Inactive window flashes before closing with fade-in effect (compositing) on Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: badshah400@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042700 SUSE/3.0.10-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.10 In KDE (currently tested with 4.2, but this problem also existed with openSUSE 11.1 final and KDE 4.1.3), when desktop effects are turned on the fade-in effect results in a momentary splash of the inactive window in front of an active window if the inactive window is closed or (as in the case of YAST Software-management) automatically disappears. So if you are watching a fullscreen movie for example and you let yast install some software in the background (as an inactive window), just before the installer disappears it gives a flicker in front of the fullscreen movie. Same thing happens every time a notification disappears, or any other window fades-out. This is a small but annoying problem, in my opinion. The problem lies only in the fade-in plugin in my opinion, since even with compositing enabled, if this plugin is turned off, this behaviour is not seen. In any case without desktop effects enabled this problem does not occur at all. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open any app window (test case example dolphin). 2.Open another app window (say another dolphin window). 3.Click on the close-window button on the titlebar of the inactive app window. Actual Results: Just as it is about to fade out completely, the inactive window splashes for a moment in front of the active app window, as if to say bye :) It is a very quick flash, but nonetheless annoying if you are for example watching a movie in fullscreen. Expected Results: Inactive window should disappear completely silently without any interference from a fading out inactive window or notification. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
