Many thanks for providing this version that quickly! Unfortunately, I still cannot access the photos via kio_kamera. However, the libimobiledevice github issue might have been a red herring and the real problem is in libgphoto2: "gphoto2 --list-files" only works erratically. The error message is *** Error *** PTP Invalid Storage ID *** Error (-1: 'Unspecified error') *** I will open a new bug report and close this one. If turns out to be a problem in libimobiledevice, I will reopen it.
