http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=547610 Summary: Display brightness keys dont work on Compaq 610 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: RC 1 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nice@titanic.nyme.hu QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; hu-HU; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090909 SUSE/3.5.3-3.2 Firefox/3.5.3 Sorry, I won't be able to carry out further test on this machine, because I only saw it for a few minutes. I tried it with KDE 32 bit RC1 live USB, and everythin worked (ethernet, WiFi, bluetooth, builtin webcam, 3D desktop effects, volume controly keys, etc.) except the brightness control keys. All I know about the machine is this: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/de/de/sm/WF25a/321957-321957-64295-3955548-39... PS: If I plug or pull the DC adaptor, brightness changes, but I cannot changet it manually. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot 32 bit KDE version of openSUSE 11.2 RC1 live USB on a Compaq 610 notebook 2. Try to increase / decrease brightness by Fn+F8 / Fn+F7 Actual Results: Nothing happens. Expected Results: Brightnes should be changed. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you increase/decrease brightness with 'xbacklight' command?
Definitely, yes. BTW, if I run showkey -s on a console, fn+F7 (brightness decrease) gives this: 0xe0 0x4c Releasing fn+f7 gives this: 0xe0 0xcc Pressing fn+F8 (brightness increase) gives this: 0xe0 0x54 Releasin fn+F8 gives this: 0xe0 0xd4 -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
