[Bug 332479] New: XEN, kernel-panic on fresh install
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=332479#c1 Summary: XEN, kernel-panic on fresh install Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Xen AssignedTo: cgriffin@novell.com ReportedBy: roland.carlsson@alfamoving.se QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I have a new HP DL140 G3 1,6 ghz SAS, with 5GB RAM (2+2+1+1) that I have installed OpenSuse 10.3 on. Since the machine is going to be virtualized running atleast 2 more sessions I installed Yast-VM and then the XEN support. (Everything thourgh yast). The system said that I could restart my machine and use the XEN-kernel. When restarting I get the following message (quite earliy in the startup) BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address c11c5c8 a little bit later Oops: 0003 [#1] and at the end Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! Possible the same problem as Bug #329709 but since not having a 64-bit processor I put this in its own bugreport. I can get logs form the machine but I had to put it into production as it was (without xen) since the problem to be solved couldn't wait so I have limited possibilites to make configuration changes. Expecting a new machine to confirm the bug as soon as HP delivers. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

We'll need the whole text from the crash message(s); since the system doesn't come up you'll likely need to collect them over the serial line (which would at once give us any Xen messages) through use of the kernel parameter xencons=tty (or xencons=ttyS) and the Xen parameter com1=<baud rate>.
I finally got the link to work, even for XEN :-) Aren't there an upload for files? Guess I have to paste it in belov. When looking at the trace I don't get the same detail. How to put the #7 into a file? When trying to open the only thing I get is unreadable.
The files can be read as root only.
How to run the script in #11?
Just type or paste it in a console, and redirect its output to a file.
Seems like I don't get any output if I remove the xcons from the xen-module and paste it into the opensuse-kernel.
You ought to move it to the kernel line (i.e. the one that starts with 'module' right after the Xen line; that's the same as with the pci=nommconf option). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
