[Bug 954125] New: System didn't reboot automatically after offline update
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=954125 Bug ID: 954125 Summary: System didn't reboot automatically after offline update Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: 2015* Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME Assignee: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: badshah400@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 655066 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=655066&action=edit journalctl log between reboots In going from TW 20151030 to 20151106, the offline update failed to restart system automatically after successfully installing the updates. The system was stuck in the "Installing Offline Updates" mode (so no access to gdm etc) whilst the message "Installing updates " was shown on the screen without any progress percentage (which also seemed wrong). After waiting for about an hour with no change in sight, I pressed the power off button. Thankfully the system halted safely and upon starting again I was led to my usual desktop and saw the notification "Update was successful" or to that effect. So it seems the only thing that went wrong was the system not rebooting after all updates had been successfully installed and required manual halting. Perhaps because systemd was being updated itself? I don't know. Appropriate section of journalctl log attached. Submitted as GNOME bug because only GNOME uses the offline updates method, but this should probably be classified as a Basesystem problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Seems to be a regular occurrence now. Happened to me again, this time while updating to 20151110.
Please do a systemctl status packagekit-offline-update and lets see what it says (I reproduced the error today too, and forgot the above.. shame on me!) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
