[Bug 480732] New: disturbing message after update to kernel 2.6.27.19-3.2-pae during boot, after entering LUKS passphrase
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=480732 User novell.20.meo@spamgourmet.com added comment https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=480732#c1 Summary: disturbing message after update to kernel 2.6.27.19-3.2-pae during boot, after entering LUKS passphrase Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: novell.20.meo@spamgourmet.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Opera/9.63 (X11; Linux i686; U; de) Presto/2.1.1 The following message can be found in boot.msg after the update to the 2.6.27.19-3.2-pae kernel. No such message appeared before the update. The system has a LUKS encrypted /home/, the message shows up shortly after entering the LUKS passphrase. However, access to the partition seems to be working normal, no additional suspicious messages can be found in /var/log/messages. I've tested twice, the output differs only in the PID reported and the numbers (don't know what they stand for) starting with <f90...> <4>------------[ cut here ]------------ <4>WARNING: at kernel/softirq.c:137 local_bh_enable+0x2f/0x79() <4>Modules linked in: sha256_generic aes_i586 aes_generic cbc usbhid hid ff_memless ohci_hcd dm_crypt loop dm_m od rtc_cmos video arc4 rtc_core ecb rtc_lib crypto_blkcipher output battery snd_hda_intel iTCO_wdt snd_pcm ath5 k i2c_i801 snd_timer iTCO_vendor_support snd_page_alloc i2c_core mac80211 button ac snd_hwdep joydev intel_agp led_class snd agpgart pcspkr uvcvideo sky2 serio_raw soundcore cfg80211 compat_ioctl32 videodev v4l1_compat sg uhci_hcd ehci_hcd sd_mod crc_t10dif usbcore edd ext3 mbcache jbd fan ide_pci_generic ide_core ata_generic ata_p iix libata scsi_mod dock thermal processor thermal_sys hwmon <4>Supported: Yes <4>Pid: 1764, comm: cryptsetup Not tainted 2.6.27.19-3.2-pae #1 <4> [<c01061cc>] dump_trace+0x6b/0x249 <4> [<c0106ca3>] show_trace+0x20/0x39 <4> [<c0347a23>] dump_stack+0x71/0x76 <4> [<c0129cc0>] warn_on_slowpath+0x4d/0x70 <4> [<c012e7a9>] local_bh_enable+0x2f/0x79 <4> [<c02edd8f>] sk_filter+0x7f/0x88 <4> [<c02f8c2c>] netlink_broadcast+0x1dd/0x31f <4> [<c022c297>] kobject_uevent_env+0x439/0x4f5 <4> [<c020de10>] set_disk_ro+0x50/0x7b <4> [<f905a181>] __bind+0x110/0x122 [dm_mod] <4> [<f905a1e0>] dm_swap_table+0x4d/0x66 [dm_mod] <4> [<f905e17b>] do_resume+0x90/0xf8 [dm_mod] <4> [<f905ea54>] ctl_ioctl+0x1bd/0x1fb [dm_mod] <4> [<c019c96f>] vfs_ioctl+0x1f/0x62 <4> [<c019cc03>] do_vfs_ioctl+0x167/0x172 <4> [<c019cc53>] sys_ioctl+0x45/0x5e <4> [<c01049ad>] sysenter_do_call+0x12/0x21 <4> [<ffffe430>] 0xffffe430 <4> ======================= <4>---[ end trace c0504f2deb2b4379 ]--- The following patches were installed during the update: kernel-pae-extra-2.6.27.19-3.2.1 Sa 28 Feb 2009 09:41:40 CET kernel-pae-2.6.27.19-3.2.1 Sa 28 Feb 2009 09:40:47 CET kernel-pae-base-2.6.27.19-3.2.1 Sa 28 Feb 2009 09:39:09 CET libpng-devel-1.2.31-4.37.1 Sa 28 Feb 2009 09:38:39 CET flash-player-10.0.22.87-0.1.1 Sa 28 Feb 2009 09:38:36 CET module-init-tools-3.4-56.9.1 Sa 28 Feb 2009 09:37:59 CET kernel-docs-2.6.3-3.13.5 Sa 28 Feb 2009 09:37:31 CET libpng12-0-1.2.31-4.37.1 Sa 28 Feb 2009 09:36:41 CET Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.
