[Bug 963526] New: Yast2 should carry timeouts settings from /etc/crypttab to /etc/fstab for Systemd
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=963526 Bug ID: 963526 Summary: Yast2 should carry timeouts settings from /etc/crypttab to /etc/fstab for Systemd Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Reporter: jsamyth@gmail.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Affects Opensuse 13.2 and Leap 42.1. When Setting up a LUKS encrypted partition, Yast sets nofail in /etc/fstab. This is desirable. When systemd boots up, it waits less than 6 seconds for a passphrase for LUKS partiton. This is often unworkable for anything but the shortest of passphrases. Adding timeout=15 (or so) to /etc/crypttab will take effect if manually mounting the partition at the command line. /etc/crypttab: cr_private /dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_...-part3 none timeout=15 Command line: systemctl start systemd-cryptsetup@cr_private.service System will prompt for the passphrase, and wait 15 seconds. HOWEVER: upon boot, systemd will not wait more than 6 seconds. To obtain a longer wait time the wait time must be carried forward into /etc/fstab. /etc/fstab: /dev/mapper/cr_private /private xfs nofail,x-systemd.device-timeout=15 0 2 Note: This may affect only those encrypted partitions that also have nofail, however nofail is often wanted for encrypted partitions that contain confidential data, so the suggestion to remove nofail is unacceptable. Removable devices also may need nofail. YAST should honor timeout parameters in /etc/crypttab as documented in man 8 cryptsetup and man y crypttab by placing the time out in /etc/fstab options, OR systemd should read /etc/crypttab -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
