https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=727494 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=727494#c2 --- Comment #2 from David Martin <dmartinjr@triad.rr.com> 2011-11-03 04:55:42 UTC --- I spent several hours on this last night Nov 1/2 and had to stop. I followed the instruction from http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bugreport_YaST as best as I could. All I can determine is: 1. var/log/YaST2 is empty. 2. The only file that has any info is /boot.msg about 49KB. 3. I can copy /boot.msg to / (memory I presume) but not to the hard drive or USB stick 4. Could not write or make the USB stick writable. Perhaps because: 5. I carefully follow instructions from http://en.opensuse.org/Live_USB_stick to write ISO images to my 8GB patriot x/t USB. makes the USB read only. # parted /dev/sdc GNU Parted 2.3 Using /dev/sdc Welcome to GNU Parted! Did your system work with LInux or openSUSE before using the network card?
Yes. 10.* to 12.1 milestones, most of the net x86_64 builds, Ubuntu, Sabayon, Fedora, Debian. Linuxes especially opensuse seem to really like my PC.
Go to the text console with ctrl-alt-f2 and enter please:
ctrl-alt-F2 doesn't do anything but ctrl-alt-F9 does get me a console where I can direct the commands to a writable SD as isohybrid/imagewriter process makes the USB medium read only. BTW. consoles 3 and 4 are locked so to speak logging data which I gather has not been written.
ifconfig eth0 hwinfo --netcard
And then write the output here.
