That's not supported, at least logind requires PAM to properly manage user sessions among other things.
OK. Just to confirm what you're saying: settting "UsePAM no" in sshd_config on openSUSE is not supported. Is that correct? If so, then may I suggest that the option be removed entirely from openSUSE's version of openssh?
Before commenting further can you try with UsePAM=yes and see if the warning is gone ?
