[Bug 523352] New: creating a file on USB/(v)fat doesn't always preserve case of filename
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=523352 Summary: creating a file on USB/(v)fat doesn't always preserve case of filename Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: roeland@linux-it.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.11) Gecko/2009060200 SUSE/3.0.11-0.1.1 Firefox/3.0.11 I wanted to update eeepc901's bios. This requires a readable (v)fat filesystem with the file 901.ROM on it. For a strange reason I cannot create this file. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. create usb stick with FAT filesystem (12/16/vfat etc, all fail) 2. munt on /mnt 3. touch /mnt/901.ROM /mnt/aaa.ROM /mnt/90a.ROM /mnt/+.ROM 4. ls /mnt Actual Results: you will see that if a file contains [0-9] as prefix, the suffix will show 'rom' instead of ROM. E.g. you cannot create "901.ROM" as it reverts to "901.rom" The other examles will have .ROM at their end. Expected Results: preservation of case of the whole filename. I tried all variants of FAT systems. I finally created the file on windows ad the flash suceeded. Still, mounting under linux, '901.rom' is shown. Under windows, now '901.ROM' is shown. Possibly it's on other versions of SUSE linux incluiding SLES. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
