[Bug 1008396] New: Yast2 hangs with AMD R9 380 grafic card
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1008396 Bug ID: 1008396 Summary: Yast2 hangs with AMD R9 380 grafic card Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 42.2 Hardware: x86-64 OS: SUSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 Assignee: yast2-maintainers@suse.de Reporter: suse@mmetz.de QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0 SeaMonkey/2.40 Build Identifier: Because of new grafic card (AMD R9 360, model from ASUS), I installed 42.2 RC, Build 0245. Most things work fine, but there are two places, where YAST2 hangs: 1) Hardware/Hardware-Information Progress stopped at 25 % - Framebuffer device 2) System/Bootloader Tab 2: Kernel paramter In both cases, the UI hangs. I had no chance but killing the process. After this all works finde but I just avoided this two areas. Because of a problem with the grafic card (no signal from displayport), I sent back the card. So maybe also this hanging issues are a side effect of a hardware issue? I don't know. Also because of I currently don't have the card, I can not verify if the issue is fixed. But I can verify that it has to do with the R9 and it's driver, because after putting back the old grafic card (old Radeon HD 4550), both areas work fine without any change in the installation. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Yast2 2. Go to Hardware/Hardware-Information 3. Wait 2b. Go to System/Bootloader 3b. Select second tab Actual Results: System hangs, one or even two CPU kernal were running at 100% until I killed the process. Expected Results: Beeing able to get all hardware information or see/change the bootloader settings. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Worked only once. After this, system never wakes up again or I even had a kernal panic once (blinking keybord LEDs). But can't deliver more details because of do no longer have the grafic card. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
