I'm not sure this is a bug but I'd like that somebody would correct it. IMHO the error is caused during transformation from latin1 (aka es_ES.ISO-8859-1) to UTF-8 (aka aka es_ES.UTF-8). Or the reporter uses UTF-8 character code on an latin1 terminal. @Chema: What does the command line msgunfmt -o - /usr/share/locale/es/LC_MESSAGES/a2ps.mo | msgconv | \ iconv -f ISO-8859-1 -t UTF-8 show on your terminal? If you see the out from your report you're are using an terminal for latin1 (8bit characters only) with UTF-8 multibyte output. This can not work. Please choose a correct locale for such terminals, e.g. es_ES@euro or es_ES.ISO-8859-15 or es_ES.ISO-8859-1). "msgconv" converts into the encoding of the current locale. Then you pipe it into iconv and convert it *again* from ISO-8859-1 to UTF-8. The result is the doubly converted broken file which you have attached. Yes, because you started your terminal in es_ES.UTF-8 locale and I started it in es_ES locale. I only started it in es_ES locale to demonstrate what happens. I do *not* recommend to prefer es_ES over es_ES.UTF-8. To the contrary, I recommend that you always use es_ES.UTF-8 everywhere.
