I have two primary NTFS-partitions: sda1: C: System sda2: D: Data sda2 has never been used as system partition and it definitely doesn't contain any of the above mentioned files. What YaST does is: Existing: "Windows XP" (/dev/sda1) => renamed to "windows1" New: "windows2" (/dev/sda2) The strange thing is, that BOTH entires are working. However, YaST should never touch/rename any existing GRUB-entries for non-Linux OSes/partitions. I already noticed this behavior when I was upgrading from 10.3 to 11.0. It doesn't make a difference, if you make an update or a clean installation. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

It is not good idea mix several bugs to one. Please create new bugreport for it. BTW. there will be new concept (openSUSE 11.2) of handling bootloader entries and one of the point is define which boot entries will be handled only with user without touching by YaST. Arvin: I found in yast2-bootloader that there is called Storage::GetForeignPrimary() and output is little bit filtered. The result (partitions) is added to menu.lst like chainloader and names are created from your output of calling Storage::GetForeignPrimary(). [windows or windows 1/2 etc.] I am not able to determine if partition is valid windows partition with installed windows :( and I am not sure if you can do it in yast2-storage but I close the bug like wantfix. Ok, I'll create a separate bug-report.

I know it's a very difficult task to determine if a partition contains a valid Windows-installation. But I think current strategy isn't that bad. I'm using SUSE for a long time now and I never had severe problems (this one is really not critical). Concerning my issue: if $Boot is a file or directory which is detected but not there, it is not a strategy problem. Another thought: What about the existence of the "windows"-directory, does current strategy search for it ? Of course, if it is there, it's still not sure that we have a valid Windows-installation on this partition. But coming from the other other direction: if the partition contains a valid Windows-installation, there must be a windows-directory, right ? Just my two cents... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
