[Bug 640547] New: Strange "Modifying Printer Setup" progress dialog
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=640547 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=640547#c0 Summary: Strange "Modifying Printer Setup" progress dialog Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: psychonaut@nothingisreal.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=390509) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=390509) Screenshot of strange progress dialog User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.13) Gecko/20100914 SUSE/2.0.8-23.1 SeaMonkey/2.0.8 In the YaST2 printer configuration, when one is done editing a printer, a strange dialog pops up: It has the title YaST2, and the following text: Modifying Printer Setup Updating configuration files... 30 [ OK ] [ Stop ] The number counts down from 30; when it's done the dialog disappears. This strikes me as a particularly strange, non-standard, and unprofessional-looking progress dialog. Why is there a countdown timer? Why can't there be a progress bar like every other progress dialog? And why are there "OK" and "Stop" buttons? Is the user supposed to click OK or wait until the countdown timer is finished? What's the difference between hitting OK and just waiting? And what does "Stop" do? Does it cancel the operation? Nothing in this dialog makes any sense. Please replace this dialog with a standard progress bar, possibly with a single "Cancel" or "Abort" button to abort the operation. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. YaST2->Printer->Edit 2. Make some change to the printer configuration 3. Click OK Actual Results: 4. Strange-looking progress dialog appears Expected Results: 4. Standard progress dialog should have been used -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
