https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=786478 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=786478#c0 Summary: atd fails to hardlink with kernel 3.6.x (patch to fix and workaround available) Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 12.3 Milestone 0 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: walter.haidinger@gmx.at QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Please note that the following is true for Factory too (checked sources of at-3.1.8-1112.2.src.rpm) but I noticed it running 12.1 and kernel-default-3.6.2-7.1 of the tumbleweed repo. Kernel 3.6.0 introduced tightened security regarding links: https://lwn.net/Articles/503671/ This is a problem for at-3.1.8 as shipped with 12.1, 12.2 and Factory. atd fails to create the hardlink when executing an at job: atd[7538]: Can't link execution file a00001015797e8: Operation not permitted Already fixed in atd upstream (which is Debian, right?): http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=597130 The patch for backports: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=collab-maint/at.git;a=commitdiff;h=f4114... Workaround (reverts behavior to kernel < 3.6) sysctl -w fs.protected_hardlinks=0 An updated at package would be nice. At least for tumbleweed where the 3.6.x kernel is already available too. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
