After rebooting, I couldn't log in via ssh anymore and closer inspection showed that virtually all daemons that had been active before the upgrade had been disabled. Or rather: the fact that daemons were enabled wasn't migrated from sysvinit to systemd. I flag this as critical, because zypper dup is frequently used to update remote machies to which people might not even have console access.
