[Bug 228824] New: Lapack: Lapack 3.1 / Blas library is missing functions
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=228824 Summary: Lapack: Lapack 3.1 / Blas library is missing functions Product: openSUSE 10.3 Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Development AssignedTo: pth@novell.com ReportedBy: burnus@gmx.de QAContact: qa@suse.de If I look at http://www.netlib.org/lapack/ I see Lapack 3.1. http://www.netlib.org/lapack/lapack-3.1.0.changes http://www.netlib.org/lapack/release_notes.html * * * In addition, I found comparing with Red Hat's Lapack package, ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/fedora/extras/6/SRPMS/lapack-3.0-38.fc6.src.rpm (The LAPACK, blas and manpage *.tag.gz in openSUSE and Fedora are the same.) I found the following (might be fixed in 3.1, though): From https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=143340 ------------------------------------------------ The BLAS library (blas package) that is built out of the lapack package contains 142 functions. The source of the BLAS comes from the LAPACK package. There exists an official standalone package for BLAS which includes 8 more functions. These functions are expected to be present in the blas library when using it. What should be done: Separate the blas package from the lapack package. The blas package should get its source from the official http://www.netlib.org/blas/blas.tgz.
What are these extra 8 functions?
CSROT DROTM DROTMG DSDOT SDSDOT SROTM SROTMG ZDROT ------------------------------------------------ This is the following diff in RH/Fedora: blas-bz143340.patch One could also check the other patches by Red Hat, some of which are now obsolated by Lapack 3.1, I think. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Factory now has lapack 3.1.0, still the extra blas functions are missing.
I send an email to the Lapacker's list and the reply was that they will put it into the Lapack SVN version thus it will be available with the next update. Does the lapack 3.1.0 package also contain the erratas from http://www.netlib.org/lapack/release_notes.html ? They fix problems where the wrong variable is used to call a subroutine. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

the Lapack SVN version The SVN is not publicly available, but there is a manually updated GIT mirror available from http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~ejr/gits/lapack/lapack-svn.git
In addition, Julien Langou writes: "we already have a bunch of patch, version 3.1.1 coming soon"
This will be fixed with the next Factory rebuild. Thanks, Richard
