tar: YaST2: Cannot stat: No such file or directory tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors This means that tar can't find YaST2 directory, so that this archive is empty.
Here is example how to use tar: tar czvf /way/to/output_archive.tgz /way/to/packed_directory As you can read in HOWTO yast logs are stored in /var/log/YaST2 Thanks! -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Starting with 10.1, save_y2logs supports bz2 compression also which should result in smaller files (but still more than 45 bytes ;-)). Please run save_y2logs /tmp/y2logs.tar.bz2 and attach /tmp/y2logs.tar.bz2 here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I suppose thats the problem with system restore failing. I was able to save the directory, I thought, to send the bug, however the partition has now been formatted as System restore failed to run suseconfig after reading the file locally and system restore didn't system restore and to add insult to injury the backup of my /home directory could not be recovered as KDAR wrote a file with a corrupt header - there is no verify option with KDAR - However reproducing the problem is simple if you have an off-line test PC, which I don't unfortunately. ALL you need to do is perform a system backup to a NFS drive and just try to locate the file without the browse button. This will probably leave us with a wontfix, however I pity the next person to rely on System Restore.
