[Bug 1161315] New: editors/emacs: Consider enabling the cairo build by default
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1161315 Bug ID: 1161315 Summary: editors/emacs: Consider enabling the cairo build by default Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software Assignee: werner@suse.com Reporter: dcermak@suse.com QA Contact: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- As reported in rhbz#1786054 and upstream: https://github.com/googlefonts/Inconsolata/issues/42, the default build of emacs on both openSUSE & Fedora currently has trouble using the inconsolata font: - install `google-inconsolata-fonts` (ensure you have at least version 3.000) - launch `emacs -Q` - eval (set-default-font "Inconsolata") - observe completely broken font spacing This is a bug in Xft, that is unfortunately unlikely to be fixed (as mentioned in the github issue). The issue is however gone when emacs is build with Cairo support. Maybe this is the way forward and should be enabled by default? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
