Hi
I've just added libvdpau as package to openSUSE:Factory. Background is Bug #596481. I would like to see it included on openSuSE 11.3, since I've adjusted also x11-video-nvidiaG02, which now requires it beginning with openSUSE 11.3.
If anybody could give it a try together with the current nvidia packages this would be great. Unfortunately the latter need to be built manually via osc build, since I can't provide them for legal reasons - as you might already know.

Tested now myself on a NVIDIA GTX 285 on 11.3 pre-M6 (x86_64). Worked fine with "mplayer -vo vdpau ...". You need to use "-ignoreABI" Xserver option though. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

IMO it makes sense if libvdpau supplements the nvidia packages, so it's installed once you install nvidia-GFX, but I can't see how it fixes anything to have it on the live cd or DVD. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Probably it doesn't make sense to add it to LiveCD since on that medium you don't install any additional package, but putting it on the DVD definitely makes sense to me. This would just make things easier for our customer using 3rd party applications linked against libvdpau. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I still don't get why something that is required by online packages only needs to be on the offline medium
I can't remember requesting to have this package *only* on the offline medium (you call the CD/DVD medium that way, right?). Of course it can also be in the OSS repo, but I'm not sure whether that's available and enabled right after installation (might depend on whether the user registers via NCC). I would need to test that, but I have no time for doing so. :-( -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

So you mean libvdpau (i.e. everything with an appropriate license, which is not included on the DVDs) would have shown up in OSS repo anyway? -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
