[Bug 233222] New: SCSI Errors with kernel-smp-2.6.16.27-0.6
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=233222 Summary: SCSI Errors with kernel-smp-2.6.16.27-0.6 Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: asvetter@cip.physik.uni-wuerzburg.de QAContact: qa@suse.de We experience SCSI Errors with the last two 10.1 Kernels. We have no problems with identical hardware that runs a SUSE 9.3. We already exchanged the SCSI controller from Adaptec to LSI. Here are the LSI messages: Jan 9 15:48:34 wptx98 kernel: mptscsih: ioc0: attempting task abort! The adaptec reports an overrun. But it triggered an firmware bug with the lsi adapter. We opened an RMA for the device. We also flashed a newer BIOS to the LSI controller. It's a 20320 from HP with a HP BIOS. The update is from April 2006. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=233222 asvetter@cip.physik.uni-wuerzburg.de changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|RESOLVED |REOPENED Resolution|INVALID | ------- Comment #8 from asvetter@cip.physik.uni-wuerzburg.de 2007-03-01 05:16 MST ------- No, it wasn't :-( We get the same error with the new device now. We can also reproduce the problems on a SLES 10 on different machine with similar hardware. It is only with Adaptec cards. LSI cards behave correctly. SUSE 9.3 and SLES 9 also behave correctly! So there must be a change in the adaptec driver between 9.3 and 10.1 that causes this problem. The SCSI device is in all cases a Infortrend Eonstore RAID Array. About 1 or 2 years ago there was an issue that these devices could not use U320 with Adaptec cards - one had to use U160. This problem seems different, since we see the problem with Adaptec 29160 cards (max speed = U160), too. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
