If you are using the updated 11.4 kernel, install from openSUSE_11.4_Update repo, for example. See http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Alsa-update for more details. After installing alsa-driver-kmp, check whether the new module is referred correctly. I guess I won't be able to change 11.4 kernel itself for this problem because there have been pretty many changes since 11.4 kernel until now. But alsa-driver-kmp is always available, so let's close this now.
