[Bug 208048] New: Opera displays wrong page layout if scim-qtimm is installed
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208048 Summary: Opera displays wrong page layout if scim-qtimm is installed Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 Applications AssignedTo: mfabian@novell.com ReportedBy: dsieben@7-net.de QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com If the package scim-qtimm is installed opera shows a wrong page layout on some pages. This bug is most annoying on the www.wikipedia.org pages. On every article the heading is printed partly inside the article text below. To reproduce this you only have to install opera (it doesn't care if you take the package from SUSE or Opera itself) and have scim-qtimm installed. If you uninstall scim-qtimm this bug goes away. I'll add some screenshots to this report showing a wikipedia page in opera with and without scim-qtimm. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208048 ------- Comment #3 from mfabian@novell.com 2006-09-29 07:04 MST ------- I cannot reproduce this. When I take screen shots of opera showing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston, they look absolutely identical with or without scim-qtimm installed. Are you sure that installing/uninstalling scim-qtimm was the only change you did? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208048 ------- Comment #4 from mfabian@novell.com 2006-09-29 09:19 MST ------- OK, I can reproduce the problem now. It is locale dependend. Assuming that LANG is the only locale specific environment variable which is set, the problem does not occur for: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 opera LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 opera LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 opera LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8 opera LANG=ko_KR.UTF-8 opera [...] but it does occur for LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 opera LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 opera LANG=it_IT.UTF-8 opera LANG=cs_CZ.UTF-8 opera LANG=ru_RU.UTF-8 opera [...] -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208048 ------- Comment #6 from mfabian@novell.com 2006-09-29 10:00 MST ------- Workaround if you want to leave scim-qtimm installed: QT_IM_SWITCHER=imsw-none QT_IM_MODULE=xim XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 opera QT_IM_SWITCHER=imsw-none is necessary, with QT_IM_SWITCHER=imsw-multi (which is the default) /usr/lib/qt3/plugins/inputmethods/libqscim.so is still loaded and the problem still occurs. (that libqscim.so is still loaded can be seen with lsof | grep opera | grep inputmethods ) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

By the way, it is reproducible both in i386 and x86_64 but to reproduce it on x86_64 one has to make sure that scim-32bit and scim-qtimm-32bit are installed because opera is a 32bit only package. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=208048 ------- Comment #8 from mfabian@novell.com 2007-04-04 06:03 MST ------- The bug is still reproducible in current STABLE. But I am afraid I cannot really fix this without looking at the Opera source code and this isn't possible as Opera is closed source. Therefore, I think the best we can do is to add the workaround from comment #6 to the opera start script /usr/bin/opera. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
