Suspend to ram works well but only with options -f -p -m. (I noticed in RC that it does launch "out of the box" but crashes as the options are not set...). But if I boot, make one or several suspend to ram and then try to shut down, computer hangs at the end of shutdown. The last line completed is "shutting down D-Bus daemon......done". The only way then to stop is to press Off button for a long time... When it hangs, I can also make a ctrl-alt-sup and the system reboots. If I Boot and shutdown without suspend to ram, shutdown works well. I saw that the line next to "shutting down D-Bus daemon......done" was "Shutting down resource manager". I can't reproduce this myself due to lack of suspend-to-ram capable hardware. Could you log in on a text console and leave the shell open during shutdown? Then I try : shutdown -h now System shutdown but hangs as it did previousely. Fortunately, I'm still logged and I try "top" : many processes but nothing's using CPU. "ps" also says nothing except ps and bash... I try "halt" but after 3 seconds, prompt is back and nothing happen... I try "poweroff" and at least computer stops. When the system stops at shutdown, the only ways are either to poweroff computer with the start button or make a crtl-alt-suppr that finishes the shutdown and reboots automatically... If you need a copy of top output, I can provide it. I can make some more tests. At Jun 6 22:58:46, I boot my Suse RC, and switch to console mode and shutdown -h now. when the system hangs at 23:02, I make a ps faxuw > somefile and copy /var/log/messages in messages1. I ctrl-alt-sup at 23:05 to reboot and copy /var/log/messages in messages2. I join the three files. Hope this can help to solve the problem. If you could tell me the command to kill this alsa process before to shutdown, I could make the test and see if without this process the problem disappear ?? I usually kill processes with "kill -9 number" command but using top, I can't find any process named alsa nor asound... I join the top result (in a normal session)... I had to close the konsole and "somefile" is not created. I'm still on the opensuse 11 RC as I couldn't find time to reinstall the final version.
