Also attaching the edited theme, in case it is useful. Please note i changed the metadata.desktop description, as I am not part of openSUSE team and did not want to create any issue. I hope this is helpful Cheers Mauro -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

AFAIK the icons are actually included in the theme, they are just in the wrong file, network.svgz (which was used by the old KDE4 network applet). Maybe it would be better to use those instead? (no idea how complete they are though, or if there's actually any difference to Oxygen) The same applies to the other openSUSE* themes btw. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hello and thanks for your quick reply. I have no problem at all with your recommendation. I did not want to step on anyone's role. My purpose was only to show a theme that currently does not display icons well. I hope it will get fixed as dark themes are quite popular nowadays. If further help is required from my end, feel free to reach out to me. Thanks! Mauro -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I did not want to step on anyone's role.
You certainly didn't. This is a long-standing problem (and also has been reported here a few times already), but so far nobody bothered to do anything about it. The openSUSE* themes stem from old KDE4 times and are mostly unchanged since then. I did have it in the back of my head to work on the themes since quite a while, but never came round to fix them either (there's always something else to do, most of the time "more important)... :-/). And I'm not an artist anyway, creating missing icons would probably not be something I'd want to do.
If further help is required from my end, feel free to reach out to me.
Well, the main problem is probably time here. Your help and/or some work on the openSUSE* themes would definitely be welcome. Ideally, you'd submit your modified files on guthub though I think: https://github.com/openSUSE/plasma-opensuse My only "concern" is that if we replace the theme's icons with the ones from Oxygen, we could just as well drop the theme completely, as Oxygen is available anyway. OTOH, just replacing the network icons would definitely be better then the current state of course, even if the style is different from the other icons included. Unless someone still would want to create the missing icons based on the existing ones... PS: my previous comment was not correct (it's been a while since I last looked at the themes...). The additional icons I was thinking of are only available in the openSUSElight theme (in completely unused files, but also in the proper ones), but those use a completely different style anyway, so that's not of much use here. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

So if we just delete network.svgz, the icons should be taken from breeze-dark. Mixing breeze-dark and Oxygen by adding network.svgz from the latter is probably not the best way to go forward... Or should we maybe change that fallback to Oxygen? (we'd still only have to remove network.svgz then) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hi, Quick disclaimer. I am not an artist/designer too. I know my way around inkscape and other graphics manipulation software. I am not sure if I am good wnough to create completely new icon sets, but I am willing to help. Yeah I saw the fallback. I think keeping the opensuse themes is great. The bit of customization, start icon for the application launcher, those small touches are really nice for new users. So if you are ok with me helping out a bit, this is what I would do. 1. Check all opensuse themes on plasma, gather a feel of what icons are used by the various themes. Check if there are consistent fallback themes and write those down. 2. Choose a single fallback theme, or more accurately one light and one dark, for all opensuse themes. 3. See if icons are custom for one of the themes. If so,take those and use inkscape to invert colors so we can obtain both a light and dark version of it. 4. Modify all themes that are not reflecting the standard opensuse theme look and feel. 5. Submit for approval. Do you think this is a good plan? Cheers Mauro -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1128854 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1128854#c9 --- Comment #9 from Mauro Gaspari <ilvipero@dazuzu.com> --- I had a look at the openSUSE Plasma themes and I found the following: - openSUSE theme network icons display well, those are from the breeze theme. Fallback theme is breeze. - openSUSEdark theme network icons are mostly missing. Fallback theme is breeze-dark but as you pointed out the network.svgz would need to be deleted for fallback to happen. - openSUSElight is a well made theme. most icons are customized, looks quite well, has some nice green colored arrows and icons, which fit well with openSUSE. Network icons probably only missing the airplane mode as far as I can see. - Air openSUSE is also a well made theme, most icons are from the fallback oxygen theme. I am going to familiarize a bit more with KDE Plasma themes editing. I am working to find a good unified openSUSE look and feel for those Plasma themes. Once I have something I will follow up here. http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1128854 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1128854#c10 --- Comment #10 from Mauro Gaspari <ilvipero@dazuzu.com> --- Quick update. OpenSUSElight theme seems the one with the nicest icons, custom made with nice green status indicators. I will use this theme as my base. This is the plan so far: - openSUSE - This theme is a bit redundant with openSUSE-light, and all icons are same as breeze-light. I plan to add modified icons from openSUSE-light, then change panel colors, add green accents, use an openSUSE green start icon instead of black and white. - openSUSE-light white bars, black icons. Looks great. I need to tweak a few missing icons but mainly leave as it is. - openSUSE-dark modify icons from openSUSE-light. I will need to invert the black and white portion leaving colors as they are. - openSUSE-air. This theme looks good. It is using oxygen icons. I will check if requires any tweaking or fix. This is going to take a while to complete. I will follow up once I have some results. I hope this is acceptable. This is what I did. 1. air-openSUSE. Left it as it was, using oxygen icons. Very good theme. we might want to switch to the icons i customized for openSUSElight, darker icons might look better with air-openSUSE. but can do that later. 2. openSUSE. I changed it to have a green start icon, dark bars with green accents, oxygen icons included, left transitions as they were in openSUSElight and openSUSEdark. 3. openSUSElight. I removed the icons as the icon pack was not complete. mixed with breeze did not have a very good feel to it, in my opinion. So i modified all oxygen icons, inverted the colors so that it suits well on a light theme. (I will also submit oxygen-light icons to KDE and see if they like it). 4. openSUSEdark. I removed the icons as the icon pack was not complete. mixed with breeze did not have a very good feel to it, in my opinion. replaced with oxygen icons. @Wolfgang Bauer. Do you want me to upload the .tar.gz themes here to check them, or directly send requests in the github page you linked before?
