[Bug 233135] New: Online update requires unresolved IP
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=233135 Summary: Online update requires unresolved IP Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Update Problems AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: christophe@veber.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com When I choose "Configure Online Update" in Yast, it tries to connect to 130.57.4.12 , which (to my knowledge) does not have a DNS entry. This is a problem as the proxy policy of my company requires the entry of a domain/computer name, not an IP address. Either, yast should not connect to this computer or yast should talk to a DNS-resolvable name. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

This is our official https web server and I know it is resolvable. I have tested it from the outside of the Novell network. Additionaly suse_register always call the name, never the IP address. So somebody was be able to translate name => IP.
