I have a K850i mobile that I would like to use as a 3G modem. The problem is it shows up as a wired connection (eth0)and especially under network-manager-netbook this is very confusing. Normal NM at least displays the name/description of the device so I can work out which is the true wired connection. Uploading lshal. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Connect k850i via USB 2.Select the NM Applet and try and choose connection 3. Actual Results: Device shows up as an eth0 device Expected Results: Device shows up as a 3G modem -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Or still in 11.1. <!-- Sony Ericsson --> <match key="@info.parent:usb.vendor_id" int="0x0fce"> <!-- K750i, w880i --> <match key="@info.parent:usb.product_id" int_outof="0xd016;0xd068"> <match key="@info.parent:usb.interface.number" int="1"> <append key="modem.command_sets" type="strlist">GSM-07.07</append> <append key="modem.command_sets" type="strlist">GSM-07.05</append> </match> </match> </match> From your hal info, your product id is d075, maybe we should add it in the fdi. And for more log info, you should do like below: 1. kill the NetworkManager and modem-manager 2. run 'modem-manager --debug' in terminal. 3. run 'NetworkManager --no-daemon' in another terminal 4. attach the log, also /var/log/messages. These would be helpful. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Looks like things have changed only slightly in 11.3 - the device is now named usb0 instead of eth0. It still does not show up as a Mobile Broadband connection.
From the screenshot, I can see the new mobile(GSM) connection.
