[Bug 1193142] New: usb mouse and usb keyboard not recognized by sddm
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1193142 Bug ID: 1193142 Summary: usb mouse and usb keyboard not recognized by sddm Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.3 Hardware: PC OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel Assignee: kernel-bugs@opensuse.org Reporter: jdd@dodin.org QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- since a week or so, I have no more working usb mouse and keyboard (separate, wired usb ones) on my Leap 15.3. ASUS laptop N550JK. The curious thing is that if I first boot an old 15.1 install, mouse and keyboard works, and if I just reboot on 15.3 (not power off), mouse and keyboard start working in 15.3. So on the morning I have to first start 15.1 (no need to login), and reboot on 15.3. odd. of course the two devices used to work since ages and still works after the double boot. Looks like some thing on the device is not correctly initialized (firmware?) * bug on last kernel, 5.3.18-59.34-default * no bug on kernel 5.3.18-58.10-default I didn't test all the kernels between these two -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I come here because since some days I have the 5.3.18-59.37-default kernel and the working is surprising: at first boot I still don't have usb mouse/keyboard, but rebooting immediately restore them. I have no usb-c on this computer, usual usb3 type A socket thanks jdd -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Reboot, not power off. Then on the next grub menu I don't anymore have the usb keyboard working, but after the boot, at the sbbm menu all works, including usb mouse and keyboard. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Don't know if it's the kernel (I write this on January 13, 2022 and have seen the end of the bug for no more than two or three days now), or because changed some usb BIOS (UEFI, in fact) options from "auto" for fixed setup. this due to the fact that I noticed that at first boot I had the usb keyboard working on grub menu, but not at sddm, when at the reboot the keyboard didn't work on grub menu but worked on sddm... dunno if this have any useful meaning. This said I guess it's better to close the bug as fixed. Reopen it is necessary thanks -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
