we went back to hardcode 96 as a temporary bandaid
What method of hardcoding is used? Users who don't want it need to know how to undo it. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

We ignore what we get from the X server. You can still set a value in gconf, or via the appearance capplet (in the font tab). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

That doesn't sound like what I think of as "hardcoding", which would be something like a global Xft.dpi or a gconf default. Also, if it's possible, how exactly does one make the X server-provided value not be ignored? IMHO, if xorg.conf exists and contains a DisplaySize, it should be the final authority. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The way we do it is with the gconf default, actually...

It's not possible. I said "bandaid" because the solution is bad, but nobody could come to a better solution... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
