[ 707.812] (II) [DRM] Kernel mode setting enabled [ 707.812] (EE) FATAL: RadeonHD presently does not work with kernel modesetting (KMS). Please disable KMS in your kernel. [ 707.812] (II) UnloadModule: "radeonhd" [ 707.812] (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. [ 707.812] Fatal server error: [ 707.812] no screens found after i passed the nomodeset option in grub X could start. the new logs say: [ 24.050] (II) [DRM] Kernel mode setting disabled [ 24.050] (EE) KMS is disabled. This is good for us, because RADEONHD conflicts with KMS. quite a nasty experience. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: i haven't tried a clean install, only upgrade. don't know if it will reproduce. Actual Results: the default system configuration is broken for ATI cards. i think it related:
I use fglrx driver (it not support KMS), to work this driver i manually: set NO_KMS_IN_INITRD (/etc/sysconfig/kernel) to yes, and nomodeset to grub menu
If you would use the RPMs provided for openSUSE 11.3 users, you wouldn't need to do this. It would be done automatically for you when installing these RPMs.
but after last kernel update it again tried to use KMS and fglrx again don't work
No idea why this happens. It's unrelated.
(I use manually built fglrx from ati-*.run file)
