[Bug 1131064] New: grub2 timer is too slow on RPi2
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1131064 Bug ID: 1131064 Summary: grub2 timer is too slow on RPi2 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.1 Hardware: armv7 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader Assignee: jsrain@suse.com Reporter: kasimir_@outlook.de QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Hi, the grub2 counter requires about 80 sec on the RPi2 for the preset 10 sec. I noticed this when trying out the image of Leap 15.1 (openSUSE-Leap-15.1-ARM-X11-raspberrypi2.armv7l-2019.03.19-Build1.3.raw.xz) The tumbleweed images for the RPi1 and RPi2 have a similar problem. I cannot reproduce with latest Tumbleweed image on RPi2. Could you?
I cannot reproduce with latest Leap 15.1 image either openSUSE-Leap-15.1-ARM-JeOS-raspberrypi2.armv7l-2019.05.17-Snapshot1.18.raw.xz -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

It is getting fun... I can reproduce the problem _only_ when a USB keyboard is plugged in.
@Matthias, any idea how this could affect the grub timer?
I suppose grub just uses EFI calls to u-boot for this. Do you know? In case the bug is in u-boot, the input subsystem polls through all input devices. So have a look into the RPi USB controller to find out where it takes so long. It seems we have a problem with that, as we already hit this once in the console size detection, which I fixed without touching the USB driver (see bug 1124137 for reference). Is this a USB 1.1 keyboard? Could you test with the patches from Michal he mentioned in bug 1139351? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

There is no plan to update u-boot in Leap 15.1 AFAIK.
