[Bug 926841] New: Yast should display the free space warning only when something is going to be installed there
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=926841 Bug ID: 926841 Summary: Yast should display the free space warning only when something is going to be installed there Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Factory Version: 201503* Hardware: PC OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 Assignee: lslezak@suse.com Reporter: mrmazda@earthlink.net QA Contact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: Other Blocker: --- Created attachment 630774 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=630774&action=edit y2logs from TW 20150407 on 64 bit host gx745 +++ This regression bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #259493 +++ Whether during installation or post-installation, YaST2 seems to be going out of its way to warn me about lack of space on filesystems on which software would never be installed. It happened during this AM's TW installation, and after installation when I opened YaST2 simply to search for whichever package is hiding kcmshell5's applets. Attachment is a warning window complaining I "only" have 17.1GB free on a giant filesystem mounted to a / filesystem that is less than 1/3 of '/s own size in total, and only 7% free on another filesystem that is nothing more than a home for a manually managed bootloader and some installation kernels and initrds. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Its a portable hard drive. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The space (\040) is somehow escaped (\\040) then mount point is not found and YaST gets 0 free bytes on a total of 0. I think it is related to boo#925088. I don't see why YaST should check the size of this particular partition though, as nothing is supposed to be installed there. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

U have a partition with 500M free out of 1.1T. It is mounted as /vol/oldhome1 and nothing would get installed there. Yet I get the warning about lacking space there every time I install a package using YaST. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

My external hard drive has 30% free space. Caw we please get this issue fixed? It is very annoying and does not make OpenSuse look good. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
