All kinds of software do that all the time, so I don't see a good reason to spend a lot of work for this. In my home directory, I find this: .bash_history .cache .config .cshrc .cvsrc .designer .dir_colors .directory .dmrc .dvdcss .emacs .emacs-config .emacs.d .exrc .fltk .gconf .gimp-2.8 .gitconfig .gitexcludes .gitk .gnupg .gtk-bookmarks .gtkrc-2.0 .hgrc .ICEauthority .lesshst .local .logout .mozilla .mtoolsrc .nv .nvidia-settings-rc .oscrc .pki .profile .rspec .rubocop.yml .sane .ssh .subversion .synaptic .themes .thunderbird .viminfo .wget-hsts .Xauthority .Xdefaults .xinputrc .xprofile .xscreensaver .xsession .xsession-errors .xsession-errors.old .zcompdump .zshrc The most annoying is stuff like .xession-errors and .xsession-errors.old that get recreated upon every start of X11. You can remove it as often as you want, it keeps coming back. And adding insult to injury, it even creates that backup file .xession.old before it dumps even more junk upon you. Then there is useless junk like .lesshst, .viminfo, .wget-hsts that also get recreated every time you use the respective command. No, any work spent on this is wasted if not even the ancient tools can get this fixed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
