http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1000501 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1000501#c14 --- Comment #14 from Bruno Pesavento --- I did a few more tests. 1) Using Qemu/KVM no problem seen both with AC97 and ICH9 (HD Audio). 2) Dropping the "Spectrum Analyzer" from the Amarok GUI almost halves the resource burden on VBox, greatly reducing the likelihood of an Amarok freeze; notably, this way the resource burden with Amarok paused is close to zero. 3) The ICH9/HD Audio combination seems far more resilient than the "default" PIIX3/AC97: no problem seen with enough resources committed to VBox (say 2 CPUs, 4GB virtual RAM, KVM default acceleration). 4) Even with PIIX3/AC97 I see no problem until I "pause" Amarok: it doesn't resume playing afterward, but it seems just an Amarok freeze, since e.g. the audio Test button in the Multimedia system settings works fine once Amarok has been killed. 5) Ksysguard in the guest system meters Amarok at customary CPU usage, say 10% or so, lower than kwin anyway, while on the host some 50-70% CPU is needed to emulate a playing Amarok; this is consistent with Amarok showing no problem on real HW. So I guess the problem is the inordinate amount of resources needed by VBox to emulate a playing Amarok and its GUI, possibly worsened when the emulated arch is PIIX/AC97; but, as said, this is beyond my pay grade... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
