[Bug 501368] New: Sometimes (very rarely) one of my processors disappears after suspend/resume
http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=501368 Summary: Sometimes (very rarely) one of my processors disappears after suspend/resume Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: nice@titanic.nyme.hu QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; hu-HU; rv:1.9.0.9) Gecko/2009041500 SUSE/3.0.9-0.1.1 Firefox/3.0.9 I have a (dual core) Intel centrino CPU in my Compaq nc6320 notebook. Very rarely after suspension one of the processors disappear from /proc/cpuinfo. Does the kernel switch to uniprocessor mode? The system works perfectly afterwards, but I have to restart the machine to regain the lost processor. Actually it happens often when I suspend to disk instead of RAM. Maybe always? It doesn't always happen. I observed s2ram to be able to regain both cores today. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you please verify if this problem is reproducible with the kernel from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/kernel/kotd/HEAD/ ?
Yes, I've tried that kernel, and despite that hibernation didn't work by KDE powerdevil and not even by the s2ram commandline utility, I was able to do hibernation by echoing 'disk' to /sys/power/state. After returning from the first hibernation I had to recognize that the kernel has lost one of the CPU cores again. So, this kernel does not solve the problem :( -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Sorry, I've forgotten read your mail, and thus I didn't register to the kernel bugzilla, but all I can say is that this problem is solved in openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 8!!! -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
