Same behavior for normal user as well as root. If a nonexisting workspace is chosen, it is created and eclipse starts normal. Crash on first time execution of eclipse, I mean when there is no $HOME/.eclipse directory, after loading finishes. Crash generates above attached reports. Once it crashes, it starts up without problem but doesn't ask workspace. It runs with $HOME/.eclipse as a workspace path so I have to manually change to workspace path mine everytime. If a package is provided, in principle it should work out of the box. If it's broken it causes a damage to the distribution and its image, so better to drop it.
