https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=790146 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=790146#c0 Summary: Today's Apper Update Unable to install, zypper up fixes Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tonysu@su-networking.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:16.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/16.0 Nov 17, 2012 Something for the Apper folks to look into. Did a zypper up yesterday, so system was updated fully as of yesterday. Noticed an Apper notification for 2 updates today Ran Apper to do a new scan to verify anything needed, Returned a list which contained kdenlive libmlt++3 libmlt5 libmlt5-data libmlt5-modules melt openshot python-mlt (above was from a later zypper up) plus one additional... some kind of libQT4 security update. Clicked Apper "apply" button but failed with the following error patch:openSUSE-2012-751-1.noarch conflicts with libqt4-debuginfo.x86_64 < 4.8.1-2.4.1 provided by libqt4-debuginfo-4.8.1-2.1.4.x86_64 I then proceeded to run zypper up instead and noted as I described above that all updates are same as what Apper identified except that zypper did not list the QT4 security update. Proceeded with zypper up which completed successfully. Re-scanned system with Apper which found no outstanding updates including the mysterious QT4 security update. I do have many QT4 components installed for both regular User and Dev use. Note that no QT4 components were updated by zypper. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Although happens "every time" this may only be a one-time update anomaly. 1. Run Apper 2. Scan reveals proposed updates as described in "Details" 3. Click Apper "Apply" button which will fail due to the error described in "Details" 4. Run zypper up which will identify same proposed updates but also a QT4 security update 5. Install updates using zypper up 6. Rescan with Apper which reveals no outstanding updates including the mysterious QT4 security patch Actual Results: Zypper resolves whatever issue Apper was not able Expected Results: Apper should have been able to resolve whatever problem zypper was successful As noted in the beginning, This bug is simply to report what may be a specific issue which may or may not re-occur, and was resolved using an alternate tool. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
