[Bug 852146] New: gvs-copy and pcmanfm can't retrieve images from digital camera
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=852146 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=852146#c0 Summary: gvs-copy and pcmanfm can't retrieve images from digital camera Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: andreas.bolsch@alumni.tu-berlin.de QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0 After attaching Canon EOS 550D camera is mountable via pcmanfm and gvfs-mount, browsing subfolders, deleting images works as desired. However, copying images from camera to disk always fails with "Operation not supported by backend". Even a simple example program just using g_file_copy fails with the very same error. This is almost certainly the problem fixed by https://git.gnome.org/browse/glib/commit/?id=be2656f13952dd22d348ff5e3f43240... in glib-2.38.2 After rebuilding the whole glib2 stuff from glib2-2.38.1-1.1.src.rpm but with 2.38.1 replaced by 2.38.2 (and obvious modifications in spec file) the problem is gone. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Attach camera via USB cable 2. Launch pcmafm 3. Select some image files within pcmanfm and copy to harddisk Actual Results: Copying fails with "Operation not supported by backend". Expected Results: Copy image files to selected destination folder. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Can you try installing the test stack currently published in home:dimstar:bnc849913? This is scheduled to go out as a maintenance update and contains glib2 2.38.2 If this is all good, then we can just tag this bug as 'depends on bug 849913' and we're done :) (looking at all your tests done, I'm pretty sure about this) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Indeed, the test stack resolves the problem, too. ;-)
Thanks. bug tagged. This specific bug will be fixed with the release of GNOME 3.10.2 into the openSUSE 13.1 Update channel. Nevertheless, as the update is already running, this bug will not be explicitly mentioned in the fixes of the patchset. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
