I will add the files you requested. Regarding alsa-driver, I got alsa-driver-kmp-default-1.0.23.20100908_k2.6.34.4_0.1-6.2.i586.rpm from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/multimedia:/audio:/KMP/openSUSE_11... Is that the right one to test? If something goes wrong, how do I recover? Just uninstall? This problem didn't appear in the earlier distro versions, right? If so, could you check whether openSUSE-11.2 kernel works, at least, for this problem? FWIW, you can install multiple kernels via rpm -i with --force option. For example, take kernel-default.rpm from OBS openSUSE:11.2 repo, and install it via "rpm -ivh kernel-default*.rpm --force". Then you'll have multiple GRUB menu entries. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I think this problem has been around for a while, but since I had a work-around (rcalsasound restart), I did not report it. I believe the first OpenSuSE I installed on this T23 was 11.1. I have had issues with suspend and resume for some time (see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=483153), so I only recently have been using OpenSuSE for multimedia. As you requested, I got kernel-default-2.6.31.4-1.6.i586.rpm from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/11.2:/Update:/Test/stand... and installed it. Immediately after booting into it, sound worked. After suspending and resuming (fortunately, it did resume correctly the one time I tried it), there was no sound. After "rcalsasound restart" sound was back. This is the same behavior as with kernel 2.6.34.4-0.1-default. On-line update just installed kernel 2.6.34.7-0.2-default. Sound behavior is the same: works immediately after boot, no sound after suspend and resume (that still works), sound is back after "rcalsasound restart". I never did anything with alsa-driver. Is that still something to try? If it breaks something, will an uninstall fix it?
