output of hcidump for DUN connection attempt
I can't manage to get the bluetooth dial-up network daemon to work on openSUSE
10.3. I just took my working peer configuration from openSUSE 10.2 and put it
to
'/etc/ppp/peers/bluetooth-dun'
As before on openSUSE 10.2 I modified '/etc/sysconfig/bluetooth' to start the
DUND automatically with the following parameters:
DUND_DAEMON_ARGS="--listen --persist call bluetooth-dun"
Next I verified, that dund is running:
# ps ax | grep dund
1865 ? S SDP lookup of DUN-Service fails -> client
doesn't even try to request a DUN connection ]
I attached the output of 'hcidump hci0' on the machine providing the DUN
service, when I try to connect from my mobile phone.

Also what network service are you referring to? Realize the reason I need dund running is to be able to sync my palm over bluetooth via ppp as the native bluetooth sync isn't supported.
What do you mean by "native bluetooth sync"? libpisock/pilot-link should get shipped with bluetooth sync support. Try "bt:" as port/socket instead of "usb:" or "tcp: -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Didn't know that worked! Each time I keep looking for syncing palm over bluetooth I just keep finding the pages explaining how to use ppp.
Unfortunately this feature is not really well-known. You might give it a try and write some more accurate success story, once it works ;) And you might want to contact your author of your preferred palm sync frontend to implemented some Bluetooth wizard for Palm Syncing. In the long run we plan to use some nice palm integration based on the OpenSync plugin and provide fancy Bluetooth Widget to search your palm device. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Please explain more. How does running insserv bluetooth help? The problem is that the bluetooth start script itself needs a sleep in the middle of it. Changing the order of the init scripts is not helpful.
Yes it is. The real problem is, that - without "insserv bluetoth", the bluetooth services are started before dbus is up, and they cannot work without it. We added an ugly hack to hcid, but not to all other dameons. If you "insserv bluetooth", the bluetooth services will start _again_, later in the boot process. The already started ones will just do nothing, the ones that did not start because of dbus not being present will be started now. Your "sleep 35" just sleeps long enough to get past the dbus start in the boot sequence.
Also what network service are you referring to? Realize the reason I need dund running is to be able to sync my palm over bluetooth via ppp as the native bluetooth sync isn't supported.
This should all be provided by the network or the serial plugin of bluez-4 in 11.1 IIUC. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
