At least until such time as all desktop environments provide a zoom type of overall object sizing like in Gnome 3, some other unit needs to be used to do layout for YaST2 windows used in other desktop environments. One such unit that works on web pages is the em unit. It could probably be used by YaST2 maintainers to solve this problem. To visualize the problem please refer to the attachments, which show that as display density increases, window open size is held constant, with the result that window content is squeezed into so small a space that usability suffers. Window size and column widths are adjustable, which modestly helps only for the current session, as changes made are not preserved across sessions. In the two attachments of three YaST2 windows each, the top is 144 DPI, the center 120 DPI, and the bottom 96 DPI. Window open size is always too small in XFCE.
