[Bug 305102] New: File /var/lock/SuSEFirewall2. booting persists and prevents incoming connections
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=305102 Summary: File /var/lock/SuSEFirewall2.booting persists and prevents incoming connections Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: asnd@triumf.ca QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Other After a long time with failing incoming network connections, I found a spurious lock file: /var/lock/SuSEFirewall2.booting. Deleting it restored network function. This file had persisted through starting and (nominally) stopping the firewall service, and through several reboots. It is that persistence that is the bug. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I wish I had recorded info about the lock file before deleting it, in case it was somehow undeletable by SuSEfirewall2_setup. Since the lock file always prevents remote access, regardless of SuSEfirewall2_setup, and since SuSEfirewall2_setup is clearly not booting when it is disabled, the lock should be cleared by other means as a fall-back. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
