[Bug 1203122] New: /usr/share/X11/locale/locale.alias doesn't agree with reality
https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1203122 Bug ID: 1203122 Summary: /usr/share/X11/locale/locale.alias doesn't agree with reality Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org Assignee: sndirsch@suse.com Reporter: schwab@suse.de QA Contact: gfx-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- A lot of the aliases in /usr/share/X11/locale/locale.alias don't agree with the system locales. For example, eo is mapped to eo_XX.ISO8859-3, but the system locale uses UTF-8: $ LC_ALL=eo locale charmap UTF-8 The locale eo_XX.ISO8859-3 doesn't actually exist. Same problem for en_IN, which is mapped to the non-existing en_IN.ISO8859-1, but the system locale uses UTF-8. C.UTF-8 is mapped to en_US.UTF-8, but the system locale is a separate locale. Moreover, the file contains the same list twice, only with the first field suffixed with a colon. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

I'm not sure if this is still being used by anyone. Is there a concrete issue resulting of this? I think it would be the best to report it upstream as issue on https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/lib/libx11/-/issues
I haven't seen a new issue for this upstream so far. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
