[Bug 767966] New: Geany + X takes about 100% of one CPU core when window not minimized
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=767966 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=767966#c0 Summary: Geany + X takes about 100% of one CPU core when window not minimized Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Beta 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: mpapis@gmail.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1 I have notified that my system uses CPU power with no reason, after checking I found out it was Geany + X process, both about 45% of cpu usage, when I minimize Geany it stops using CPU. The window can be covered with other apps with the same effect, only minimizing helps, but this way Geany is useless. I have disabled all plugins with the same effect. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run Geany Actual Results: CPU usage and hot laptop. Expected Results: No additional CPU usage when not needed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Does that effect appear 'immediately' when geany is being started? Or is it after 'a long period of time'? If it's after a period of time: can you verify the memory consumption of geany as well? (Is your system starting to swap? That would be an explanation why switching apps becomes so slow.. the app needs to be unswapped first) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The effect is immediate, I can minimize Geany then it stops, when it's restored then the processor is used again. There is no difference if window is being used or it's hovered with other windows, it stops only when it is minimized. I have verified that no memory is swapped (60KB only ... it's not enough to produce such problem). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
