[Bug 849910] New: touchpad cannot be enabled
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=849910 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=849910#c0 Summary: touchpad cannot be enabled Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: wolfgang@rosenauer.org QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I cannot enable my touchpad within Gnome. At some point during beta phase I've disabled it for my user but now with the final version it gets disabled when I log in no matter what my setting is. Within gdm or another user the touchpad still works so there is _some_ setting in my configuration which prevents the touchpad from working. I have already grepped for "touchpad" and "synaptics" to no avail. Any idea how/where to debug this? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

it is started when I enable the checkbox to disable while writing and not started when that is disabled. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

gsynaptics? Does that still exist? I don't think this is present on normal installs.. so this might well be a hint. try removing it (unless you know why it's there) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

If gsynaptics is not required nowadays why is it still invoked (apparently by gnome-session)? What can be done to mitigate the issue for others so people do not encounter the same issue just because they install gsynaptics?
The autostartcode is actually coming from gsynaptics package itself: it installs an /etc/xdg/autostart desktop file I see two options: 1) Drop the package well.. let's say one option :) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
