So the problem really seems to be similar like previously. We invalidate the page containing uncheckpointed buffer and then we reattach the buffer to the current transaction. The problem is I don't see how this can possibly happen and I've been staring into the code for several hours already. So to narrow the search, can I ask you to run a test also with the additional debugging patch applied? I'll attach it here in a moment. The patch from comment 27 should have been enough but it didn't print anything in your 3.4.2 kernel. Umm, ah, I misinterpreted the transaction dump from the previous test run - the buffer is not refiled from BJ_Forget list but from BJ_None list which is why the WARN_ON did not trigger. http://beta.suse.com/private/jack/747122/ contains a kernel built with the updated debug patch. I never thought of this possibility because I saw the filesystem has several GB but now, from the pure despair, I looked into that possibility and that would explain everything. Also when I try beating 1 KB filesystem in data=journal mode, I get the assertion failure in about 10 seconds. I have yet to think how to fix this subtle problem but at least I now fully understand what's going on. Reports against openSUSE 11.4 and prior will not get the attention needed to resolve them before openSUSE 12.2 is release and openSUSE 11.4 becomes unmaintained. Please re-test with openSUSE 12.1 or openSUSE RC2+ and re-open with an updated Product if you still encounter your issue. We apologize for this issue not getting the attention it deserves but we are focusing our resources in the area where they will have the most impact for our users.
