The rfkill output seems odd, mentioning "Acer Wireless" when the notebook in question is a Fujitsu notebook.
Yes, it looks like the rfkill interface from acer-wmi is blocked. So it turned out to be NetworkManager disable the wifi [1]. Why would we need Acer's help? This is a *Fujitsu* laptop. Clearly something is being misidentified. I'll try the function keys after unloading the module.
Yes, it's possible! There have a old WMI interface show up in non-Acer machines that was detected by acer-wmi. Please provide acpidump and dmidecode of your machine on this bug: + acpidump > acpidump.dat + dmideecoe > dmidecode.log If confirm the WMI interface on your machine, then may need your help to find out which EC register changed when pressed hot-key. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I tried "rfkill unblock 2" to no avail.
I also ran both of the commands in comment 18. acpidump gave the feedback:
"Linux version not implemented yet Could not get ACPI tables, AE_SUPPORT"
The acpidump tool has problem in this version, I think the same with bnc#842447. Please update your acpi tool to acpica-20130823: https://build.opensuse.org/package/binaries/openSUSE:13.1/acpica?repository=... Then please attach your acpidump result to here. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
