If /etc/pam.d/common-auth is a file and not a link to common-auth-pc, than this behaviour is correct. pam-config do not want to change a user configuration.
We had in the past some modules which changes pam configuration using sed, etc. pam_fingerprint was one of this module, if I remember correctly.
Was this machine updated? Was in the past pam_fingerprint used?
If so, this would explain it, and we cannot do more than say sorry.
This can be fixed, by creating again links for all of the common-* files to its -pc versions.
In my case was exactly as the comment 4, I didn't change anything under /etc/pam.d I think the problem is in the kde4-livecd final release. The command called by YaST is 'pam-config -a --fp'.
Miguel, a) does it happen with normal installation (not from Live CD) as well? It looks like, because a friend of mind install with the DVD and works OK. But I didn't try my self
b) what if you omit YaST configuration and call 'pam-config -a --fp' directly?
linux-jzw2:/home/gnuowned # pam-config -a --fp File /etc/pam.d/common-auth is no symlink to /etc/pam.d/common-auth-pc. New config from /etc/pam.d/common-auth-pc is is not in use! linux-jzw2:/home/gnuowned # -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
