[Bug 776385] New: mouse pointer keeps jumping to 0x0
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=776385 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=776385#c0 Summary: mouse pointer keeps jumping to 0x0 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: RC 2 Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: ohering@suse.com QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: Outsourced Testing Blocker: --- I have seen this initially in a hyper-v guest, but now it happens also with a Xen PV guest: In a GNOME desktop the mouse (or the focus?) suddenly jumps to 0x0, which causes the 'Activities' menu to show up. I have not checked yet if this happens also with KDE. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

Hnmm. evdev driver apparently.
[ 21.648] (II) evdev: Xen Virtual Pointer: initialized for absolute axes.
Absolute axes? Does this make sense? Sounds weird to me.
Yes, thats required. Otherwise the mouse pointer within the guest would just jump around and will hardly stay in sync with the host mouse pointer. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

The offending change was eventually tracked down and corrected there, resolving this issue. The Fedora bug (#852841) is here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=852841 I recently installed a copy of OpenSUSE 12.2 to find the exact same behavior occurring that was corrected in the above Fedora bug fix. This issue makes the OS unusable for me. I believe this issue is also related to this OpenSUSE forum post about misbehaving virtualbox guests: https://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/virtualization/4... As I stated there, for xorg-x11-server we need either a 7.6_1.12.0-x (downgrade) or 7.6_1.12.3-2.x or higher (upgrade). I could not find any versions prior to 7.6_1.12.3 in yast, and 7.6_1.12.3-1.17 is the newest currently available. Please advise...
